What do we believe in?

At Plataforma Dignidad, we know that life is finite and we believe that, like any other stage of life, its end can also be considered, discussed, and decided autonomously. We defend the right of every person to choose how to live and how to conclude their story, according to their values, beliefs, and the life project they deem worthy. We know that life is not only biology, but also biography: a story that deserves to be respected until the very last moment.
That is why we promote the recognition of the right to die with dignity as a human right in Latin America and work to ensure that the States of the region guarantee all options to exercise it: from palliative care and the adjustment of therapeutic effort, to medically assisted death.
We are convinced that the changes Latin America needs will only be possible if we build together: through interdisciplinary collaboration, open dialogue, and joint action among civil society, healthcare professionals, and decision-makers. We want to build societies where talking about end-of-life issues is not taboo, but rather an opportunity to reflect on and promote the idea that no one is more qualified than the individual to choose how to die.
