Josefina Miró Quesada Gayoso

Human rights defender. She led the legal defenses of Ana Estrada—the first person in Peru to access euthanasia—and María Benito—the first legal case involving the refusal of life-support treatment.

Holds a law degree from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru, a Master’s degree in Criminology from the University of Cambridge and a Master's degree in Law from the University of Stanford. Josefina has over eight years of experience in research, journalism, and strategic litigation. She has worked as a lecturer, scholar and a consultant for national and international organizations. She has authored various publications on bodily autonomy and end-of-life issues.

She was selected as a Global Fellow in End-of-Life Care with a proposal to develop "Plataforma Dignidad" (Dignity Platform) and has served as a Legal Fellow at the NGO Compassion & Choices. Josefina is also a feminist activist, a musician, and a TEDx speaker. She is also a Knight-Hennessy Scholar at Stanford University.
